If you spent Tuesday wondering why your Fitbit Charge 5 won’t sync, you’re not alone. Disappointed Charge 5 owners have taken to Reddit and Twitter Reporting your fitness trackers simply won’t sync in what appears to be a widespread outage. It’s the latest in a series of complaints this summer, followed by slow Ionic recalls and messy blood oxygen graphs for Android users.
ledge Was able to confirm that at least two of our Charge 5 devices are unable to sync on both Android and iOS despite multiple attempts. We were last able to sync a device on Monday night at 10:39 PM ET. Unpairing and repairing the Charge 5, as well as force-quitting the Fitbit app, failed to fix the problem.
Around 4:45PM ET, Fitbit Support Account tweeted That issue has been resolved, and we were able to get the Charge 5 to sync successfully again.

According to Downdetector, it appears that users have been complaining of a Fitbit outage since late last night, with reports picking up steam at around 6 a.m. ET this morning. Several users have also reported the issue on the official @Fitbit and @FitbitSupport Twitter accounts. Most of the reports seem to be related to the Charge 5, but some users have also complained of sync issues with other devices. Fitbit has responded to individual complaints on its official channels, and confirmed in a tweet that he was investigating the matter. ledge Fitbit reached out for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

The outage is the latest in a series of customer disappointments this summer. Since Fitbit’s Ionic smartwatch was recalled in March after Kindle 78 users, many Ionic owners have complained that the company legs pulled in issuing refunds. ledge Independently has received three suggestions from readers who have confirmed issues with getting help from Fitbit in returning their Ionic devices.
Recently, Android users have complained about app updates breaking the estimated oxygen variation graph. This graph shows how blood oxygen levels can change during sleep. Following the update, it appears that many users noticed a dramatic and sudden increase in their nighttime oxygen shifts, leading to widespread confusion. The problem appears to have since been resolved in an Android app version 3.65 update.
It all comes as Fitbit prepares for a busy fall. Several leaks have surfaced recently about the Sense 2 and Versa 4 smartwatches, which indicates that we may soon see some news from the company on the hardware front. Fitbit is also expected to feature quite a bit at the Pixel Watch launch. While Google hasn’t revealed too many specs or details about the Pixel Watch, it did highlight the upcoming Fitbit integration at this year’s Google I/O as one of the watch’s key selling points.
