iFixit now has genuine repair parts for Google Pixels from 2 to 6 Pro

In April, Google announced plans to join an extensive list of tech companies working with iFixit. Repair mavens distribute parts and tools for people interested in doing DIY electronics repair, and starting today, iFixit’s store offers genuine Google parts for many Pixel phones.

You can order fixes for everything from the Pixel 2 to the latest Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, plus the tools to set them up and step-by-step guides to walk you through the process. (Aftermarket parts are also available if you want to fix an OG Pixel or Nexus device.)

Now, if you have a broken screen or busted charging port, your choice isn’t just to find a repair shop or toss the device in the trash. iFixit has all kinds of repair kits, and while they get more expensive for new devices — swapping out a Pixel 6 Pro screen for a real new one will cost $199.99 for a kit — they vary widely. are mostly based on age. Inexpensive parts for older devices help keep those phones viable for as long as you’re comfortable with the Android software update support they’re getting.

Companies such as Microsoft, HTC and even Valve’s Steam Deck are already involved in iFixit’s arrangements for distribution of parts and equipment. There’s also a partnership with Samsung in the works, and while we’ll have to wait for more details there, it looks like the 79-pound kit doesn’t require delivery.
