Roblox’s New “Oops” Sound Is One Big Oops

Roblox has gotten rid of that iconic “oops” sound that your character makes when you die (that I, too, as an adult, can get some semblance of bliss in). In a thread on twitter (Via my box), Roblox explains that it removed the sound “due to a licensing issue” and replaced it with a new noise which, in my opinion, sounds weird as hell.

Roblox has had problems with the “oops” sound before. as my box Turns out, Intellivision founder Tommy Tallarico originally created the noise for a 2000 game called Messiah, Tallarico took issue with the fact that Roblox was using noise, and in 2020, Roblox began charging creators $1 (or 100 Robux) for including sound in their games, settling the controversy. Gave. However, it is not clear what Roblox did to remove the sound altogether. Roblox did not respond ledgeComment request.

You can hear the new death sound in the video embedded below, and it certainly isn’t the meme-worthy noise that “oof” once was (and still is). At least Roblox could have tried To make the new noise somewhat similar to the old one, but instead, it replaced it with some sort of guttural grunt.

when my character gets off the map speed run 4I don’t want to feel like I’m legitimately killed My character… I want him to look like he’s poked his toe or something. This new noise makes me feel like I’m standing on my character’s deathbed watching his last breath.
