Twitter has announced That a button to toggle captions for its video player is now available to everyone on iOS and Android. The button, which appears in the top-right corner of the video if it has captions available, lets you choose whether you want to see the written description. Twitter started testing the feature in April, but it was only available to a limited number of iPhone users.
for yearsWhether or not subtitles appear on your mobile device is determined by several factors, such as if you have turned on closed captions in your phone’s accessibility settings, or if you are watching a video with your sound off. While those are still taken care of, you can now easily turn them on or off whenever you want, just like you already could on Twitter’s website and many other video platforms.
The choice is yours now: Closed Caption Toggle is now available to everyone on iOS and Android!

If you want to see example of toggle, you can see ledgeTweet of A caption file is attached, along with the trailer for our Netflix show. Staff members here were able to see the toggles on both iPhone and Android phones, though it could be a bit glitchy—sometimes the captions didn’t show up, and sometimes pressing the button would freeze the video.
What if we could look into the future and see how technology would change everything – from raising pets and houseplants to how we dress, eat, date and even how we die. Our new documentary, The Future Of, is premiering @netflix on 21st June pic.twitter.com/h3cAgqo7Tp

in an email to ledgeTwitter spokesman Shaoki Amado said the button will “only appear on videos with captions already available, and is not related to the automated captioning system.” Hopefully, the toggle being available to everyone will encourage anyone uploading videos to Twitter to consider adding a caption.
