Astronomers have found a very cunning black hole.

Actual pictures of the Milky Way's black hole have been taken by scientists.

the universe's densest objects for almost two decades. Dormant black holes are those that do not produce any observable light.

This new finding is particularly fascinating since it sheds light on how black holes grow and change over time.

In VFTS 243, the black hole is thought to be quiescent because no radiation can be seen coming from it.

The active star dwarfs the black hole, which has a diameter of about 33 miles (54 kilometres).

The Milky Way is thought to have hundreds of these binary systems with black holes that do not generate X-rays.

This investigation established that VFTS 243's light came from a single source, not from two different stars.
