Closest,Jupiter moon Europa in 22 Years

A rare up-close view of an icy world was just obtained by NASA's Jupiter-observing probe.

On Thursday, the Juno spacecraft made the first close approach to Jupiter's ice moon Europa in 22 years.

giving the ocean planet its best glimpse since the NASA Galileo spacecraft passed by it in 2000.

Just 219 miles (352 kilometres) above the surface of Europe,

The two-hour flyby was one of just three close encounters with the cold planet.

Galileo provided us with a similar perspective last on January 3, 2000.

In a statement, representatives of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California remarked.
