At UFC 281, former lightweight champion Dustin Poirier will face former title challenger Michael Chandler.
The event will take place from Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 12. ESPN was the first to break the news.
Poirier's loss ended an 8-1 run in which he had won the interim title by decision over Max Holloway in 2019.
When the native of Louisiana lost to then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, he failed to unify the title.
Chandler is a three-time Bellator lightweight champion who debuted in the UFC in January 2021.
Chandler suffered another defeat, but it did nothing to diminish his status as one of the sport's best action fighters.
With Israel Adesanya defending his middleweight title against former kickboxing rival Alex Pereira and Zhang Weili, UFC 281 is already stacked.
