Firefly Alpha reach orbit for 1st time!

Today's test flight of Firefly Aerospace's Alpha rocket was flawless.

first-ever successful launch of a small number of satellites into Earth orbit.

Today at 3:01 a.m., a 95-foot-tall (29 metres) rocket blasted off from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. EDT

launching "Alpha Flight 2: To The Black," a test flight that Firefly dubbed.

It was Alpha's second orbital launch. In September 2021, a test flight will be conducted from Vandenberg.

The mission was aborted after one of the rocket's four first-stage Reaver engines prematurely shut down.
