Jupiter is closest to Earth in 59 years

According to NASA, upiter will approach Earth on September 26 at its closest distance in 59 years.

According to Trina L. Ray, deputy science manager for the Europa Clipper mission at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California,

According to a NASA representative, the space agency first stated Jupiter will be making its closest approach to Earth in 70 years 

before realising its error and revising its statement.

NASA estimates that there will be a distance of around 367 million miles (590.6 million kilometres) between Earth and Jupiter. 

At its farthest point, Jupiter is located roughly 600 million miles (965.6 million kilometres) from Earth.
