The mission of one man to show us the Moon

Andy Saunders is obsessed. It's Project Apollo, one of the defining events in the history of our species.

He's also deeply frustrated. And these are the images that document the remarkable space missions of the late 1960s.

That's why, a few years ago, the Cheshire property developer decided to put his career on hold and devote his entire time to reworking the US space agency's website.

The result is Apollo Remastered, a gloriously sumptuous new book. Four hundred images depicting humanity's first foray into space.

"There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to see these important historical moments in anything less than incredible quality."

The first clear images of life on board the stricken Apollo 13 mission, which had a near-fatal explosion en route from Earth, have been released.

Andy's work with the 16mm movie sequences captured by the astronauts inside their capsules on their journeys to and from the Moon is some of his most impressive.
