Pitch Black benefit from Australian base

MELBOURNE, Australia — As part of a recent air combat exercise, participants made use of Australia's upgraded air bases,

which are currently under construction, to support a larger rotation of American forces.

During the biennial exercise Pitch Black, which took place from August 19 to September,

more aircraft were able to park at RAAF Base Darwin thanks to the upgraded infrastructure in northern Australia. 8.

Around 200 miles south of Darwin, more work is being done at RAAF Base Tindal.

This work is covered by an agreement between the United States and Australia called the Force Posture Initiatives.
